Because every woman is different, the clothes do not necessarily suit everyone. Dressing according to your morphology allows you to highlight your advantages and harmonize your whole body in order to balance the silhouette. A brief overview of tips and advice for dressing well according to your morphology.
Figure 8: a wide choice of clothes
For all those who have an “8” morphology, good news! You can wear almost any clothes you want. However, avoid evening wear that is too baggy and favor those that are fitted, flowing and light. Also avoid pencil, straight, pleated skirts and opt for A-line skirts instead. As for necklines, your harmonious curves will be well highlighted in wrap-around shapes. Finally, avoid pants with side pockets and opt instead for pants that are fitted and close to the body.
The “H” morphology: creating the illusion of a size
If you have this type of morphology, avoid loose shapes, wrap-over shapes and shapes that are too curved. Also avoid flared skirts, which widen the silhouette. Choose empire-shaped dresses and tunics, pretty necklines, straight clothes and semi-low or high waisted jeans. The jackets will be worn slightly open and fitted to give the illusion of size. We will also avoid all tight belts around the waist and we will favor them worn drooping and loose.
Dress with a pyramid body shape: draw attention upwards
This “A” shape – or pyramid – is the most common. In order to rebalance the silhouette, it is necessary to bring volume, material on the upper body. The lavalière collars, with jabots, the breastplates will work wonders. We will avoid pants and skirts with horizontal stripes and prefer vertical stripes, which are more flattering. We will rather bet on dresses and empire and trapeze skirts rather than on pleated and straight skirts. The same goes for flared pants, which we prefer over pants with darts, cigarettes and side pockets. Finally, boat necklines and wide collars are perfect.
The inverted pyramid morphology: feminize the silhouette
This morphology, also called “V”, requires suitable clothing, playing on volumes. Avoid too-shouldered jackets, tight and striped tops in favor of slightly fitted jackets and trapeze-shaped tops and fluid tunics to feminize and balance the silhouette. We opt for semi-low rise and bootcut pants. We play on the volumes for the skirts: peplum, ruffled, skater, trapeze. We accessorize everything with jewelry to feminize the outfit.
Dress with an “O” morphology: highlight all your assets
For this type of morphology, we will highlight the upper body. For this, we opt for necklines that are not too plunging. Large volume accessories, such as earrings or a large bag, will harmonize the silhouette. Always opt for clothes that are your right size and not for clothes that are too large. Prefer sober colors, such as brown, black or royal blue for example. But you can also bet on melted colors and opt for a total white look. On the feet, round toe heels will be perfect.
